Common Generator Problems We Diagnose and Repair
Most generator problems fall into a handful of categories. If your Generac is doing any of the following, it needs attention before the next outage.
Failure to Start
The generator does not start during its weekly test or during an outage. Common causes include a dead battery, a control board fault, a fuel delivery problem, or an oil pressure shutdown.
Low or Unstable Voltage
The generator runs but voltage is low, fluctuating, or not feeding correctly to the transfer switch. This can damage appliances and electronics. Often related to the alternator, voltage regulator, or transfer switch itself.
Oil Leaks or Consumption
Standby generators use motor oil and need it maintained at the correct level. Leaks or excessive oil burn-off can trigger low-oil shutdowns and leave you without power at the worst time.
Fault Codes and Alarms
Generac generators display fault codes when something is wrong. If your control panel is showing a code or your generator is alarming, we diagnose the fault and resolve the root cause, not just clear the code.
Transfer Switch Problems
If the transfer switch is not switching correctly, your home may not get power even if the generator runs. We test and repair Generac automatic transfer switches and load management systems.

How Generac Warranty Support Works Through Gen-Man
Generac backs their residential standby generators with a manufacturer's warranty. The specific coverage terms depend on your model and registration. As a Generac Elite Plus dealer, Gen-Man Generators is an authorized warranty service center for the systems we install.
When a warranty issue arises on a system we installed, we assess the problem, document the failure, and work through Generac's dealer process. We do not make representations about coverage on your behalf, but we will tell you honestly what we believe qualifies and what the next step is.
